Who we are

As I said at the beginning, this website has been created to try and help anyone, of any age, who wants to become successfully self-employed, on a full, or part-time basis, in Great Britain. I have deliberately tried to keep it simple and factual. There are many websites on the internet which have information of this kind. Every bank, financial organisation, large legal and accountancy practices and some government services, like Business Link, all have vast, expensive websites with huge amounts of information for you, but usually written by people who have never actually run their own business! And,that's part of the problem; they are so stuffed with content it is really difficult to cut to the chase and get simple answers. And often, that is all anyone needs, at any one point in time.

Remember, basically business IS a simple process. It requires a customer with a need, and a product, or service, to satisfy that need,at a profit ! If you can arrange to work out what that need is and find a solution to it, you are in business.

This site is the result of my work over the last ten years as a freelance business adviser. During that time, it has been a great pleasure to help literally hundreds of aspiring entrepreneurs, men and women of all ages, who have beaten a path to the doors of Business Link offices, Chambers of Commerce, or other enterprise agencies, in the Midlands and Northwest of England,

Before that, for the previous 20 years, I managed and then owned, a group of private enterprises, supplying heating fuels to domestic and commercial customers in the east and west midlands, and Cheshire.

The information in this website is typical of the kind that the many clients I have seen, have regularly asked for. The kind of information that, for whatever reason, has been difficult to get elsewhere, or shrouded in irrelevant 'webspeak' or government jargon. It is just straight answers to some straight questions, so that hopefully, you, Dear Entrepreneur, can get on with your project, and life!  If it does that, I have succeeded.
